Nana Akua Addo, while speaking in an interview with Ghanaian blogger Zionfelix, maintained that the word “slay queen” was not offensive to her at all but rather came with some sense of pride due to her line of work.
She revealed that a new sort of negative implication had come to be associated with the term “slay queen” which some women find derogatory.
But to her, it was okay to be tagged with such a name because it was an honour for people to notice that your sense of fashion makes a statement.
She revealed that whatever dress she decided to step out with had its own cultural meaning and historic background.
The fashion icon said due to her kind of outfits, she has graced many prestigious red carpets that had international media outlets like CNN and BBC in attendance and they ended up posting her on their websites.
She said due to this, she herself has attracted some mileage to her brand, industry and Ghana as a nation.
