The Asokwa constituency has become the hotbed of political party rivalry particularly among the NPP.
This year, some of the disgruntled members of the party filed to contest as Independent parliamentary candidates against the incumbent, Madam Patricia Appeagyei who was elected unopposed in the party’s primaries. The party executives intervened and cool heads prevailed.
Among them was Elder Divine Osei Mintah who rescinded his decision and decided to rally behind the incumbent Member of Parliament, the president’s preferred choice.
He has since rallied his supporters to support the incumbent member if Parliament, Madam Patricia Appeagyei to ensure total victory amidst intense competition from a renegade, Mr. Eric Osei, the NDC’s Kamel Amoh and others.
The quest for power within the Asokwa constituency became more intense as the years progressed.
The rise of independent candidates this year was the talk of the moment as it seemed likely they could capture power.

Divine Osei Mintah rescinded his decision as a Candidate to contest the parliamentary seat and has decided to rally behind incumbent Member of Parliament and president Akuffo-Addo. He made his reason known through an interview with FDBE TV.
